EUROPE’S DE FACTO OPTICAL CONFERENCE MOVES STATESIDE

From Monaco to Singapore to Dallas, WDM & Next Generation Optical Networking moves stateside, bringing the optical transport conference for telcos, system vendors and component and subsystem vendors to the North American market. Free to attend for Carriers the event in 2013 addressed all the optical networking topics for tier 1 and tier 2 & 3 Carriers such as long-haul DWDM, metro/regional WDM and P-OTS, the following topics were covered in detail:

  • 100 G deployments – what degree networks will migrate towards coherent technology & ROADMs
  • Practical economics of evolving legacy networks
  • OTN evolution
  • Higher speeds migration debate – 400G vs 1 Terabit
  • Evolution of optical networks to support data centres, cloud services & high bandwidth services
  • What do Cloud & SDN mean for optical networking
  • Next generation optical broadband access

Building on the 15 year heritage of WDM & Next Generation Optical Networking in EMEA, the team are excited to bring the debate, discussion, the demos and optical transport tools you need to deliver and deploy the next generation optical networks yet again in 2014 to Dallas.

WDM USA is brought to you as part of a series of industry-leading optical networking conferences. WDM EMEA, taking place every year in Monaco, brings together 600+ optical networking professionals together for 4 days of structured debate, discussion and new business deals. We recently expanded the series to Asia (WDM APAC took place in Singapore in January), with 120+ experts (68% network carriers in attendance, from 35 different companies) excited to see the new developments in the industry coming to their region.

Our research is based on the reputation of 15 years of optical expertise, and builds on relationships with carriers, equipment and subsystem vendors, industry associations, standards organizations and the analyst community. All these sectors are canvassed for their thoughts and desires from the show from initial topic research, telephone research and face to face meetings. This is used to independently build up the format of the days and the presentation content, which creates a buy-in from potential sponsors, speakers and delegates, and provides the sector with a non-biased, industry representative conference.

Here is what our delegates, speakers and sponsors had to say about WDM 2012, EMEA's leading telecoms optical event:

We asked our delegates what they thought about our WDM Series. This is what they said:

It’s been a great conference, and just the right size; you get to meet and talk to everybody, without getting lost in the crowd like you do at some of the bigger shows” (GB, Verizon)

“The conference has been great – everyone has a different take on the advantages and disadvantages, which gives a unique perspective” (MB, Finisar)

The 2012 event proved that IIR WDM is the go-to event for the transport industry in EMEA“ (KD, ALU)

I genuinely think the event has become the de facto optical event in Europe (and further afield, given the number of customers from APAC and CALA).  There has been lots of really good customer engagement” (MK, Ciena)

I’m delighted with the conference, 80+ different service providers from 50+ countries is a fantastic group for us to be able to network with” (BG, Cisco)

I personally found the show very worthwhile and it was one of the better industry events I had attended in awhile.  I found it to be a little more informal and open than other events and as a result I was able to takeaway valuable info about the market and the problems our customers need to have solved” MT, Tellabs

Best intimate place to talk to clients and partners. All the presentations were useful and helpful to track market trends.” (EG, ACG Research)

This is my third year and I’ve watched it grow –I’m amazed at how many people are showing up...it’s not just about Carriers and suppliers, it’s about the ecosystem of the supply base into the Carrier community.  [With the inclusion of Telco Components World] you now start to have a story that is not just about ‘what I want’, but how do I implement it, and what are the technical issues, cost issues and hurdles that I have to deal with.  It allows for a better conversation for all the stakeholders, to allow consensus-building to happen.”(JD, Ethernet Alliance)

“This event is really instructive and the presentations are really thorough. The number and quality of attendees offer you great opportunities to make new key acquaintances. If your business involves using DWDM; you MUST be there !” (CD, SNCF)
